Lithuanian glass artist Artūras Rimkevičius was born 14 december, 1960 in Jonava. The artist is a graduate of Juozas Naujalis Secondary School. He studied at the Department of Fine Arts, specialising in sculpture. From 1979 to 1984, he studied at the Kaunas Faculty of Industrial Art of the Vilnius Art Institute (now the Kaunas Faculty of the Vilnius Academy of Arts). At that time, art glass was a new field of study. From 1982 to 1984, he worked as a training master at the institute. Since the beginning of his studies he has had a keen interest in glass technology. After graduating from the Vilnius Art Institute, he has been teaching various art disciplines at Kaunas College of Art and Kaunas Art Gymnasium for almost the entire period up to the present day. In 1995, A. Rimkevičius and his wife Daina Rimkevičienė (also a glass artist) established a personal design and glass studio. The artist is a member of the Lithuanian Artists' Association.
Rimkevičius has been a consistent creator of glass-plastic for many years now and is an active participant in exhibitions, events and symposia. His focus is mainly on sculptural compositions in glass. He has also been involved in the creation and restoration of a number of stained glass windows. Various art projects have also been developed and supervised by the artist. Among the most recent is the international exhibition "Kvadratas" (Square), which has been organised for several decades, is dedicated to the work of art educators and is presented annually in Kaunas art galleries.
